Second Nature

on Wed Apr 25, 2018 1:10 pm
Just got the deposit on this one, a mix of Fitzroy and Porter in Partridge Grey and Charcoal.

Renders could be better, but I've had to reduce setting slightly to bring the render times down - I've noticed larger kitchens can take an age to render recently.

Thanks Joe, they took around 25 minutes each, but that was only on the standard Highest setting and turned off any displacement mapping in the textures.

Wish I had more time to use better settings and play about with the sheen on the doors and maybe spend more time dressing it/sorting the lighting.

Yea using displacement maps instead of normal bump maps will increase the render times by quite a lot!

Some of this unnecessary work you mention should be addressed in V21.

Yes, the Porter is a painted door. Had samples of them both side by side in partridge grey and they look identical.

Nice design Michael. What a kitchen. Great job to get. What worktops were you using there?

Cheers

This is the texture I used, Material Mapping Size set to the image size (2500x1172) and Low Gloss pre-set.

I found it on a website and made a few tweaks to the colours.
